Bought for my husband and asked him to write a review. Here's what he said: IMPRESSIVE! I never felt the need for a nutcracker; always considered them unnecessary. Used to crack nuts by crushing two of them together or breaking them with a heavy spoon or similar. I've always found nutcrackers a bit awkward to use and often a few nuts would fly into the corner of the kitchen to crack! But this one changed it for me. It fits your hand perfectly and you can control your grip throughout the cracking process to apply the perfect amount of pressure needed to crack the nuts. Tapered, ribbed, circular contact surface helps apply even force to any size nut from all sides; it also increases the likelihood that the nut will be shelled intact. My favorite are walnuts and now I can't stop eating them; So if you are watching your weight, do not buy this nutcracker because it adds a whole new level of fun to the process of shelling nuts and of course eating them. Note that the spring in the center helps control and limit range of motion, which is a great feature. Also, we don't have any children, but I would wholeheartedly trust my child with one; it's pretty safe to use.
