I have a 2008 Silverado with 5.3 and 112,000 miles. After the truck sat for a while (at night or after work) it gave off a good puff of smoke for a few seconds when starting. The other time I didn't smoke. After reading about the revised PCV valve on the forums I thought I'd give this new design a shot. And now, after replacing the valve cover, the smoke stopped. My truck had an old PCV valve with no baffles. Besides, his replacement wasn't bad. I took my time and had all the tools and it took me about an hour (never before). I feel like I can do it now, probably in half that time.
