Fixed Smokey Start Silverado!

I have a 2008 Silverado with 5.3 and 112,000 miles. After the truck sat for a while (at night or after work) it gave off a good puff of smoke for a few seconds when starting. The other time I didn't smoke. After reading about the revised PCV valve on the forums I thought I'd give this new design a shot. And now, after replacing the valve cover, the smoke stopped. My truck had an old PCV valve with no baffles. Besides, his replacement wasn't bad. I took my time and had all the tools and it took…

Very good product in rocker arms

This is the most redesigned driver side valve cover for the GMT800. It has a built in PCV valve so you don't need a new one. The kit includes an ACDelco valve cover gasket which is much thicker and nicer than the Felpro Permatex gasket I bought. The design differences between this and the old one are obvious. This should solve the problem of oil consumption due to poor PCV on these engines. I installed this on my 02 L59 Flexfuel Suburban. The only problem was that the box was completely damaged

  • best quality

WILL NOT FIT 2010 OR LATEST but still great product

I have a 2010 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3L Vortec engine and this rocker cover didn't work because it had a different connection for crankcase ventilation tubes. to (see figure). FYI, the correct one I needed was part number 264-969, valve cover driver's side Dorman 264-969. I had to return this valve cover but I'm giving it 5 stars because it seems solid (mine had it almost completely installed save for a pipe), it has an updated PVC hole which should help with oil issues and a GASKET AND BOLTS

  • OEM
Cons
  • Damaged

2008 Suburban 5.3L stopped burning oil on start

My 2008 Suburban (5.3L) was burning oil, most obviously (and annoyingly) with a large puff of smoke when starting the engine. Read online that a new valve cover with a relocated PCV port (moved into the cover rather than out) can help with both starting and normal oil consumption while driving. Bought the valve cover and installed it. Results: no more large clouds of smoke at start-up and less oil burn between oil changes. This part definitely stopped the smoke on take off and I actually burn…

Pros
  • perfect fit
Cons

IT WORKS! I can't believe I ate oil the last 100,000km

I've fitted this valve cover for about 1000 miles. I checked at 500 miles and couldn't tell if the oil had dropped. Just got back from another 500 mile freeway ride and still can't tell if the oil has burned out. At the top of the pound signs! I used to burn about a quarter per 1500 miles. I should have about 1/2 liter per 1000 km. At the same time I did a Diablosport (87 Octane) tune where I disabled V4 mode. I also swapped out the oil pressure sensor and strainer shortly after. I stopped…

Pros
  • it's not a replacement part
Cons
  • almost never
