Review on 🔪 Smith's Jiffy-Pro Handheld Sharpener 50185 in Vibrant Orange by Angela Cooper

Not as great a product as expected

After much research I decided to give it a try. Well I wouldn't recommend it for scissors at all. Scissors, like sewers, are serious tools that require a lot of investment. When I used my kitchen scissors as a tester (which are not very high quality), this tool created bald spots on the scissors. You can't just drag blades through rocks. They are so rough that they can only be pushed, not pulled. He didn't sharpen them at all and now I have a spot in the middle of the blades that won't cut. Then I tried it with an old pair of sewing scissors and that was also a failure. There are plenty of guides online on how to hold a sharpener. One reviewer said the exact opposite of another, so it's not clear which is better when it comes to sharpening scissors. No big deal for knives. It's easier and I've sharpened my cheaper knives just fine, but I wouldn't use it on my Henkels and Wüsthof knives. I would not buy again, very disappointed.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • A number of factors
