I love this thing! I had no problems with that. My water is clean. Believe me, it cleans. When I swapped out my old square stone filter for this one, it really did the job and did it. When you use it as a waterfall, it doesn't filter the water. This feature is for effect only and a little excitement for your pet. If you only change the water when you SHOULD then the sponges are a bit difficult to clean and I don't know where to get more. Back to my preferences. I also like that it has more space for my turtle and fish. I used to have an aesthetic rock that took up a lot of space and the turtle never climbed on it. In addition, it is very quiet. Finally, I've had to replace my aesthetic stone several times, so if I have to replace that one, at least I'll spend less money.
