Review on PerfectPrime IR0280: Infrared Thermal Imager with Visible Light Camera & Wide Temperature Range by Eugene Cox

Im impressed with the ease of use

Failed to load media. The device comes with a 16GB microSD card, USB data/charge cable and manual in a molded foam carrying/storage case. I am impressed how easy it is to work with. It can be operated with one hand, and it is not difficult to master and memorize all operations. When you turn on the device and initialize it, active red blobs appear on the screen after about 30 seconds. A pair of filters (Gaussian and spatiotemporal) can be selected to reduce noise at lower resolutions, and infrared video can be overlaid on regular video to identify infrared objects on the screen. The trigger switch on the handle, which serves as a return button and as a push button for image and video, is quite difficult to use. When used to take photos, it needs to be pressed and released quickly. If he's not released fast enough, he'll switch to movie mode and complain that the movie is too short. Similarly, if the trigger switch is used at the beginning of the maximum and minimum temperature setting - it must be released quickly enough to enter setting mode. The device, when connected to a PC with the supplied USB cable (as well as to a mobile phone with the correct cable), is treated as a mass storage device, ie with an internal card and an SD card. The photos and videos can then be viewed or copied. The resolution of the infrared image is 32x32 pixels and appears lower when using a filter. It seems to handle large objects like stoves (like in the video), hot water pipes, refrigerators, animals, etc. and helps me insulate them better. For smaller objects like a circuit board, I can read the temperature, but it's difficult to get the details of the components. There is a threaded camera stand hole on the bottom of the handle to keep the device stable during surveillance or video recording. It also has a low and high temperature alarm function. Unfortunately, only the blue or red bar on the screen seems to blink, requiring you to keep staring at the screen. The alarm does not cause any sound or voice; Otherwise, it would be ideal to keep an eye on the animals in the backyard at night. Overall, despite some flaws and a high price point, this is a good product.

Pros
  • Thermal resolution: 32x32, 1024 pixels, camera and video recording, 9Hz refresh rate
Cons
  • Unsure
