I have recently become disabled and this Christmas I decided to treat myself to some gadgets to make my favorite activities (spinning and crocheting) easier. On that list was this Ball Winder. I was put off by some of the negative reviews, but was quickly won over by this neat little gadget. I wanted to quickly solve some of the problems I saw here: - The package says "wool winder" β’ Yarn is called "wool" in some countries - The bobbin fills up too quickly, messing up the gears β’ I have some cognitive abilities. problems and are too easily distracted. Even I noticed how short it takes to roll one of these cakes. Furthermore, the size seems to be on par with all other ball wrappers I've seen in stores and at friends'. I can't imagine needing a bigger one. - the clamp is too small β’ I've mounted mine on both a 1 1/4" thick bookshelf and a 1/2" thick desk and have found that it works equally well on both. My only complaint is that the thread guide doesn't hold very well in the locked position. However, I've found that if you change the angle at which the yarn is fed, it stays ok. If you're hesitant to buy one of these, I highly recommend you give it a try! - the clamp is too small β’ I have mine on both a 1 1/4" when you change the angle at which the yarn is fed.
