Sturdy, well made but lacking in design and functionality

After buying a similarly priced, poorly made Oreilly's I tried this one. The other was so cheaply made and didn't even shrink the center tab. They are different, they compress the center and are very strong and durable. This tool doesn't break! . Not so! Although it works correctly most of the time, there are some design flaws that make it very difficult to use and get a good crimp. I messed up 2 clips trying to use it. Squeeze the left or right side unevenly, deform the protrusion and make the clamp unusable. the downward-pressing part does not begin to take effect until the clip has already been deformed by the clips compressing it. it is a pity. This requires an even action on the jaws, and the central compressor needs to be started earlier to smooth it out before it compresses and deforms too much. I was able to set 3 brackets with it by slowly pressing and watching the sides carefully. Projection on deformation, try to hold it down until the central pusher squeezes it. It worked, but it took a lot of attention and some broken clips. From a build standpoint, it's as good as any expensive one, although its function could be better. If you're cheap like me, this isn't a junk tool and worth trying, but be prepared to mess up some clamps as you learn to work around its shortcomings. .Press slowly, watch closely, once the center button pops up, you can press hard as it will hold its shape at that point
