Having recently inherited an older bike of higher quality than my previous bikes, I didn't know anything about the presta valve , so I knew nothing I was thrilled to see these adapters available to make my existing pumps and gauges work with a new bike. Very simple, if you are also a beginner, you need to unscrew the presta valve to make it move, then you can add or remove air. A cheap plastic adapter that fits the pump will work, but not very efficiently while they stay on the bike and basically turn it into a Schrader tuning valve. For example, when I first tried new hoses at lower PSI, I had my doubts about how tight the Presta valve would be with this stem threading, but once I got the air up to riding level (about 65psi in my case). ), air pressure keeps the valve closed, and this adapter prevents the valve from being pushed in, allowing air to escape. These are made from lightweight machined aluminum and the finish appears to be anodised rather than painted meaning they are extremely resistant to chipping or scratching. I'm totally satisfied, I have enough to rebuild 2 bikes and also keep one in the toolbox, I expect them to last as long as I can ride and now I can use any pump.
