First of all I bought this scale for my Structural Graphics and Design Process class but I'm sure this scale would be great for any drawing related class or drawing im general is. .The scale is made of aluminum (solid core), so it feels comfortable when working and is much stronger than plastic or wood.. The black color contrasts well with all types of documents and the graduations are engraved, so they last longer as printed. Made in China. For the price (and the fast and reliable shipping from Amazon) this is a great product and I only gave it 4 stars because the packaging the scale came in was worn when I received the package and looked pretty old out. Scratches (not at the end).
