I am very glad that I bought this doorstop. I have dogs and I have roommates. I would have preferred to be able to just close the door and be away from my roommates but the dogs would need to be let in and out. Using the door stopper really added to the emphasis. With a doorstop, my door is closed so my roommate can't see much into my room but open enough for dogs to get in and out. I needed a doorstop to prevent the dogs from opening the door wide every time they get in and out. It's heavy enough to prevent them from trying to force open the door. I even pushed the doorstop against the door when the door was almost closed and the dogs couldn't slide the door open easily. My lab was unlucky and started trying to break down the door and this little guy got a couple of punches to the body lol.
