If only the hose -> bulkhead fitting had a clamp -

This pump suffers what most pumps from other manufacturers suffer. The tubing from the pump to the stopper assembly is not physically pinched, it is a slip fitting on a barbed notch that over time [and under pressure] rips that tubing out of the notch leaving you with a working pump but no rail pressure. .The American ODB-II E36 BMW consumes fuel at 3.5 bar or 51psi. Inches at zero boost and zero vacuum. The FPR reduces the idle pressure by up to 0.5 bar to 3.0 bar or 43 psi depending on the vacuum. However, the FPR is also controlled electrically and can change the pressure under certain conditions to further change the pressure. This vibration and the fact that the E36 uses a non-pressurized/reboundless fuel rail means that the hose is subjected to pulsations that push it away from the fuel tank. Barbs You will need to use a mechanical fuel injection hose clamp or non detachable OEM types [these can be seen on the hose connection to the pump itself]. This inadequate design has been noticed by me and several members of my local BMW group, and we find that using clamps exposes the following deficiency: Non-OEM pumps use a thinner accordion tube that breaks over time, but it takes time about a year: (So I'm sending his pump back because of the said malfunction. Too bad because for the day the hose was connected it was working fine.
