Review on 🔧 Dorman 911 606 Toyota Avalon Switching: Superior Performance and Reliability! by Deshaun Fisher

Installed in May, broke in August, spent a lot of time and effort finding the faulty part

This solenoid is the evaporator purge valve on my 2001 Toyota. The original part worked fine until 2021 when the bracket broke off. I needed a replacement urgently and bought this part. It was available and accessible. The part worked when installed. About two months later the car began to have problems including intermittent idling at stop signs and then not being able to restart, stuck in traffic which did not trigger DST codes and I spent a great deal of time and effort diagnosing the problem. It was this evaporator purge valve that failed (the solenoid did not move when power was applied). I replaced it with a dealer part and hope to live with that part for another twenty years. This part was cheap but bad because I spent a lot of time and effort trying to find it when it failed. I would advise buying the part from the dealer and not considering this replacement on the secondary market - two months versus 20 years.

Pros
  • Spare parts
Cons
  • No work
