Review on 🚘 12494846 Windshield Washer Fluid Level Sensor by GM Genuine Parts - 4.7 inches by Greg Birchfield

Revainrating 5 out of 5

OEM at a good price and easy to install after removing the washer fluid reservoir from the car

for me when replacing the sensor on my 2001 Chevy Suburban. Once you've removed the reservoir, you can simply pull out the old sensor and seal and replace in the same manner. A few suggestions: 1. First check if the sensor is defective by checking if there is water/liquid in the container above the level of the sensor and if the cable connector is inserted well into the sensor. If your car is still low on fluid after checking these two things, you need a new sensor. I recommend buying this GM OEM part as it's not much more expensive than the generic.2. Make sure the new sensor is close to you when you pull out the old one so you can see exactly which side is "UP" when you install the new sensor. If the sensor doesn't bend at the hinge due to gravity when you put it in the tank, then put it upside down and it will never tell you the liquid level is low.3. Make sure you remove the old rubber gasket from the tank before attempting to install the new sensor with the new gasket around it. This. If you don't do this you will have two fills (old and new) at the same time and it will leak (yes I did that once haha).4. Very Important: Before installing the fluid reservoir with the new sensor, I highly recommend filling it with water to ensure it doesn't leak around the new sensor gasket. If it's leaking, play with the gasket and adjust it until it stops leaking before finally resetting the tank. Finally, as a recommendation, we recommend that you replace the washer pump(s) even if they do not leak because once you have removed the tank they are easy to replace. This will save you a lot of headaches later and buy you time before you finally have to do it. The pump(s) are pretty cheap (requires two pumps if you have a washer fluid hose that also goes to the rear window).

Pros

Cons
