The only thing I can blame for this is the difficulty in getting versions with the same keys. I didn't know this was an option, but now it appears in the questions that it's possible. If they did it with one click on the sales page (even to increase the cost) that would be great, I would be willing to wait to get the same key versions. In this case, the first 10 I need for the containers quickly are delivered within a limited time window. I have 20 containers and half of them are locked with these latches. And I have 10 keys! I'll deal with the upgrade later. If you think you need locks with the same keys, look at the questions and there is a procedure to get them. My next order will be with the same key for my last 10 units. Easy to use, easy to store when not sealed, has been holding up well for almost a year now, direct sunlight in SoCal has not yet caused the powder coating to fade or chalk.
