Review on πŸ”Œ Westek MLC12BC-4 Indoor Plug-in Motion Activated Light Control, 1 Count (Pack of 1), White by Robert Prix

Revainrating 5 out of 5

At the moment it does exactly what I wanted.

I received this unit to use with my wife's low wattage heater that she keeps under her desk in our home office. She often forgets to turn it off when she leaves the room and I come back to the room a few hours later (sometimes the next day) to find it was on the whole time. She even uses it occasionally in the summer, so not only does it waste energy, it also fights AC. Its heating is infrared and consumes a maximum of 500 watts at maximum power (250 watts at minimum power); This is well below this plug's 1400W rating. Setup was quick and easy. I simply placed the sensor on the side of her desk in the included weighted base mount, set the off delay time (I used 5 minutes) and plugged it in. So far it has worked great. What's great about this compared to others I've reviewed is that it stays on all the time as long as there's movement in the area and then turns off after a delay time when there's no movement. I've seen a few people say they get sick after a while and start staying here for no reason, but so far ours are working great. I will update if that changes. So far we are 100% happy with it. It was available and solved the problem; Now I don't have to worry about the heating staying on and it's likely that this thing will pay for itself pretty quickly in savings on my energy bills.

Pros
  • ENERGY SAVING - Use the wall controls to choose when the lights turn off after traffic has stopped. Available in 1, 2, 5, 10 or 20 minute options to reduce energy consumption. Don't leave the light on all night anymore.
Cons
  • Obsolete Model
