If you have a 5 burner stove like the Samsung NX58 series, about 3 inch pan on either end is not hot enough. 5 minutes to warm up. The best I could get was 330 degrees Fahrenheit in the center and 270 degrees Fahrenheit in the corners in the midrange. Increasing the temperature setting to high resulted in a more uneven temperature distribution when the oil was burning in the center and the corners were still below 330 degrees Fahrenheit even when positioned over two burners since the Samsung NX58 has a tiny burner on the back and has a large burner in front, inside. The result was a lot of waste heat and an uneven surface. Overall if I had to buy it again I would try the shorter version I think. the last 16 inches cannot heat evenly and worse, the edges act like a heat sink. So the LPGI3 appears to be specifically designed for two burner cooktops of the same size and everything else is a compromise.
