I have a Volvo S60 T5 2001 year with about miles on it and it still has the original alternator. I haven't had any problems with them yet, but I know they will come soon enough. So, as a preventative measure, I decided to connect the two wearing parts, the tension regulator and the pulley. This tool makes removing the pulley easier, especially if you have a percussion gun. On my Volvo, the information in the Haynes manual was incorrect. It says you have to turn the sprocket splines counter-clockwise, but that will only pull them tighter. You have to turn the pulley clockwise by holding the spindle or turn it counterclockwise. I simply inserted my percussion gun backwards into the torx tool and kept the wrench on top of the multi-spline tool. It went right down!
