This is a replacement for the stock fan motor resistor in a 1990 Toyota SR5 pickup with 3VZE. My fan operated at two speeds - off and up; Replacing this part made the small fan speed knob on the dash fully functional. Installation on my car was easy, two screws were removed (just follow the passenger footwell fan wire to the connector), a connector was disconnected from the original and reconnected to this amazing piece of engineering, and two screws were reinstalled. For about five minutes at every speed there was a smell of a hot compound - that resistance block is in the ventilation airflow, so that whole delicious retracting smell was blown through the deflectors into the cabin. After the burglary, the smell was gone, but the full functionality of the fan speed switch remained. Draw me a happy tourist!
