Review on Surco TF100 Tire Carrier Ford by Robert Howell

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The tire holder was NOT usable as it came out of the box but was easy to fix as I had a set of SAE taps and dies.

carrier bought and sent back, saved some money. No instructions or hardware came, I checked other reviews to get an idea of what I need. I ended up buying two 2.5" long 1/2" carriage bolts, two bolt holders to hold the carriage bolts to the strut, two washers and nuts for the carriage bolts, two 5/16-13 long bolts 1" for the hinges and two 3/4" long 5/16" bolts (nuts for them too) to go through the holes I drilled in the door. The pivot weld nuts were unusable as shipped, I had to replace one Running water through both to get them to work I was able to set the tire (I have an '87 Ford E250) high enough that the license plate was out of the way.

Pros
  • High quality assembly
Cons
  • Not the best
