Hands off. I thought the other reviews didn't apply to me. I was wrong, so it's a muffler and a diffuser to make it quieter and reduce airflow. Well, it definitely reduces airflow. but also reduces absorption. A LOT OF! And instead of making the vacuum cleaner quieter, it actually makes it louder! The low notes are reduced, but the passage of air through the lips enhances the higher notes. This is an absolute waste and I am sending it back
