Update: 3 Stars TLDR - Check shifter housing flex and cable tension. You may need a longer shifter cable and housing. Works with 8-speed 11-40T cassette on long RD cage only with max 30T sprocket size. I returned the first purchase and ordered again. This time I received the right item with the right mounting hardware. The hanger was well positioned. However, be careful not to over-tighten the mounting nut in the switch hanger. permission, very appropriate. I added some ASC-1 anti-seize compound just in case. I'm running a Sunrace CSM680 8spd 11-40T, JGBike 36T 1x and an old long cage Alivio RD-MC20 derailleur that claims a low max sprocket. 30t. I turned on my switch and spent almost an hour setting up the switch. Downshifting worked well, but compared to the 40T, it didn't upshift at all. I've played with everything: Bottom End, Barrel Adjuster, B-Tension, Road Link Angle. Nothing seemed to work. I've resigned myself to the fact that this isn't going to be my day and I'll never get this thing to work. Maybe it was the switch. Perhaps the road connection was never intended for Tempo 8. I did not know. I even ordered a new 8 speed derailleur that supports a 34 tooth max sprocket just to rule that out. I gave up, defeated. The next day I decided to try again to see if I could spot the problem. I don't know if it was fresh eyes or coffee, but I noticed that the shift cable housing had a very sharp angle. That was the moment of insight I needed. The extra suspension length shifted the position of the body and added unnecessary tension to the shifter cable. I dug out a new longer cable housing and viol, everything matched. Switching was crisp and quick. Looking back you could say 20/20, but at the time it was really hard to understand. Wolftooth should really add some quick tips to the product card that comes with the expansion. It would save me and possibly others a headache. And I was able to cancel the new RD order in time. Initial rating: 1 star. I was keen to try it, but found that a mounting screw was missing.
