not easy to apply

I bought this window film to black out the small 44" x 8" window above our shower. The window is on the west side of our house and there is a large mirror in the bathroom opposite. The early afternoon and evening sun reflects off the mirror, making it impossible to use the sink or mirror. It is not possible to follow the instructions to cut the film 1/2 inch more on each side of the window and then trim after the film is applied. !st film is a thick vinyl material with a paper backing. Remove grease and dirt, then remove the protective film from the film. Using a spray bottle, spray both the window and the back of the film with a few drops of dish soap and 32 ounces of water. OK, we did it. Place the film on the window and squeeze out the water between the film and the window. That's where the problem starts. The corners "do not" fit snugly to the corners of the window. You have to cut corners. The required razor blade must be new (sharp). Trimming excess material from the side and top/bottom needs to be completely trimmed edge to edge. The vinyl material is thicker than foil, which prevents you from doing this without pulling the material off the window. I've tried a razor blade knife, a roller knife, and finally a brand new scalpel. and let the light in. The roller blade worked best, but I couldn't get into the corners. and it took a lot of pressure to cut the vinyl, he made the straightest cut but due to the pressure required it left uncut areas so the film has bumps all around. If you are purchasing this material I would suggest that you measure your window as accurately as possible and use scissors to cut this vinyl as close to the measured dimensions as possible. At least it fits without a cut. Also, the material tends to stretch and move as you expel water. MUCH LUCK
