The rear door wire snapped when I bought my truck last May. I ordered this replacement cable when I brought it home. I had no weight on it other than the occasional standing or sitting on the tailgate last year (200lbs). Fast forward 13 months and the cable breaks the first time I trust it to hold any weight. I was loading furniture into the back of a truck when I heard a loud bang. To my surprise I want a cable that is broken but with a banjo on the end. Rust has penetrated the metal fittings of the pot and has rusted it away under stress. Luckily, the tailgate only sagged a little and I didn't fall a piece of furniture. I don't know how much weight it held when it broke, but I don't think it would have cracked if it hadn't rusted. I may have some old stock that has already started to rust, but 13 months to failure is unacceptable in my opinion. The only reason I'm not giving it a 1 star is because it fits as it should and includes the new hardware needed to replace it. I will try another brand and see how it holds up over time.
