If you need more than a basic IP camera

I bought two of these cameras in 2018 (previous model) and one of the newer models more recently (August 2020). If you are looking for a very basic security camera with cloud storage, this is probably not the best choice. However, if you want a camera with more options (and all their pros and cons); and local storage, then it's definitely worth paying attention to. For my needs, I wanted cameras to monitor the outside of my home (cars, storage areas, etc.). I'm not sure I'll catch a thief; but at least i want to have the culprit on video if something is filmed. With that in mind, my top priority is capturing every event, and the SV3C does an excellent job of doing that. If an SD card is installed, the camera will record in an endless loop (even if the motion sensor is not triggered or is inactive). When an event is detected, a series of 2 images is sent to my home server. I also have the option to send videos to my home server or send photos/videos to an email address of my choosing. It is also possible to notify the HiCAM phone app or beep through the camera speaker. With a 64GB SD card and high video quality, my cycle recording interval is around 6 hours. In addition to storage options, the camera has multiple motion detection configuration options (up to 4 independent, custom motion detection windows with independent sensitivity levels). ); Motion detection schedule active/inactive (period 1 week, set in 30 minute intervals). Video quality options include contrast, brightness, bit rate, resolution, frame rate, etc. Most of the default settings work fine; If you want to go further, get ready to do a little research online as the manual doesn't even mention most of the settings. SV3C claims that the new version of the camera has several significant improvements. Your claims seem valid as the motion detection is much better than the old version of the camera. My new camera (new version) worked 4 days (and nights) without false alarms. The old version has at least a dozen false positives every night. The SD card is also much easier to install. The usable video range of a 1080 camera (new version) is about 40 feet (in my app). Night vision is black and white but clear enough. Incidentally, the IR illuminator emits a faint red glow at night when looked directly at the camera. Not enough light to illuminate the room but enough to let you know the cameras are real and working. The biggest shortcoming of the camera is the instructions. The camera comes with a quick start guide that will walk you through installation and basic setup. The manual, online and in sections, is less than 30 pages long. It must be at least 3 times larger and must (at least) cover all adjustable parameters. Also, not all features are available in all apps. The PC software (when viewed via Internet Explorer) has some features (e.g. multiple start windows) that are not available in the phone application (HiCAM). There is also a reported vulnerability in the HiCAM phone application. SV3C claims they are working on a fix, but you might want to consider a third-party app. The third-party software I've tested so far works well with the cameras, but most of them are for viewing only (cannot change settings). In conclusion, I recommend and plan to buy at least two more of these cameras. My two old cameras were installed outside and have been up and running since 2018. The cameras have been working flawlessly for two years and continue to grow. Extra Content (?) - I came across these burglary statistics that I found useful and interesting (based on a survey of burglars). 1/2 of respondents would choose a different destination if they saw surveillance cameras in the place where they wanted to rob; most burglaries occur between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.; 90% said they would refuse a burglary if the alarm went off; 100% said they rang the doorbell before the robbery; a car in the driveway and a large dog were deterrents, but the lights or radio weren't that strong.
