So far so good. I received it today and the installation was easy. Just a quarter turn to remove the old filter. This is the first time I've changed the filter in this LG fridge since I bought it 10 months ago. I spilled 1 liter of water. Nothing dirty happened. Taste is ok. Slightly "softer" and cleaner tasting compared to my 10 month old LG factory filter. You can see the comparison next to my picture. 6 Month Update: My fridge asked me to change the filter today. I replaced it and then made a BLIND KEY. This is how it was: I poured 3 glasses of water. Once with tap water, once with old filtered water, once with freshly filtered water. I did a test on my wife and she was able to tell them all apart. I would say that freshly filtered water has a very slight "mineral" taste, which is good. I liked the old filter, but it tasted milder than the new filter. Neither I nor anyone else would try old filtered water and think it was a bad filter. Then, of course, tap water tasted like tap water. Here in San Diego, California, the water is still perfectly drinkable, but not as good as filtered water.
