Let's face it - most of the time, a toaster's job is to sit on the kitchen counter and look good. This one does a great job with this part. The heavy-duty power cord is a bit tricky to manage, but it's a safety feature I can deal with. The problem here is the toasting! When I first got it I burned some toast because the dial goes from 1 to 6 (not 0 to 6) and I thought 3 would be appropriate. Had not. The correct number was around 2, but it slowly went down over the months I've owned it. Just the other day I destroyed (burned too black) a couple of cupcakes by setting it to 2. Right now I don't even know if it will stop cooking on its own - I canceled each of the last three tasks. by hand because the product was cooked more than I would have liked. I'll be replacing this thing soon and will probably have a brand name that I recognize. So I can trust the quality control more.
