First, the pros:1) Very affordable. This was a GREAT deal. I paid about $240 for four cameras and the DVR. It came with everything needed, including all antennas, cables, even a mouse.2) POE. Even though it doesn't say this anywhere on the product description, this system came with POE power input options. I am not using this currently but will probably do so down the road for better cabling.3) Very high quality video. I have been very impressed with the video quality. It also compresses the video very well, allowing me to watch it live in HD from anywhere in the world while it is running off of a mobile hotspot with only 0.5-1Mbps upload.4) Fairly usable mobile app.5) The night vision is very good and the motion detection is VERY sensitive.Now, for the cons.1) The translation to English on every part of this system is absolutely HORRIBLE. I am used to working with translated systems so I've been able to muddle through, but if you are not accustomed to this, it is almost unusable. The DVR interface and desktop app make very little sense. The mobile app is quite a bit better but still has a bunch of confusing parts.2) The apps are pretty bad. The desktop app is REALLY bad. The mobile app is usable but also has a lot of problems. They are very glitchy and often shut off or stop working for no reason. The mobile app is a lot more stable than the desktop app, but still has a lot of issues. You can't leave the app (especially the desktop app) up for long periods because it'll glitch out in about 15-30 minutes and just show a static image.3) There is no way to record live remotely. This is the biggest problem I have. In theory, I should be able to pull my desktop app up and hit record. However, not only will the app glitch out and show a static image indefinitely after a few minutes, but the recordings don't actually work. At all. I can record on the mobile app, but only one camera at a time - not the 4-camera pane. Plus, it won't actually save anything to my phone or desktop if the motion detection is triggered. I installed this system because I am worried about drug dealers burning down my cabin, and this one glitch makes the system nearly useless for me, since I would have no actual footage of the incident unless I managed to catch them in the act and hit record on my phone. On that note.4) The motion detection is VEEEEERRRRYYY sensitive! I can't take any of the alerts seriously anymore because my phone lights up or buzzes from it about every 2 minutes. all. day. and. night. I've turned the sensitivity down to "low" and that has helped some, but not enough. It does have some cool features when it comes to telling it what areas to trigger the motion detection on, but that can only be configured from the DVR in person - same with pretty much every setting. Since the camera can't stream live remotely for longer than 15-30 minutes before glitching out, and I can't take the motion detection alerts seriously, this system does not really serve its purpose.With all that being said, there are many redeeming qualities about this product. It has been helpful in capturing HD video footage of trespassers while I've been an hour and a half away, and it does so on an extremely limited internet connection. My biggest issue is just that it is so glitchy that I can't truly use it to monitor my cabin 24/7 like I was intending.
