Bought this to use with a 2017 MacBook Pro with USB-C ports. I wanted to take this Mac and essentially turn it into a desktop computer. In the past I bought a laptop dock for this. However, this hub allowed me to connect via Ethernet, send an HDMI signal to a monitor, and connect to a 9-port USB hub to which I could connect a variety of other devices. And all without buying a much more expensive docking station. The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars was because the seller didn't respond to a technical issue. When I first started using this hub, I couldn't get an Ethernet connection. Since the product came with an email address for technical questions, I emailed and all I got was crickets. Eventually - and I'm not sure how or why - I was able to establish an ethernet connection through the hub and it continues to work as intended. The seller's response would have resulted in a 5 star rating.
