Average watersports solution

This product is a stupid solution even for a dumber Mercury design. The threaded part is too long, sticks out behind the motor and looks silly on my 2014 Merc 90. In addition, the structure of the part inside the motor is connected with a rubber bushing that has the strength of jelly. I had to remove the cover twice and (quite difficult) reinstall the part in the engine compartment. I then prepared the strain relief on the outside of the motor with a hose fitting (which I had to cut with a hacksaw). It looks silly but works well enough now. Indeed, on the 2014 engine! Also, you will NEVER be able to insert a female counterpart into a pressurized threaded portion of the hose. Disconnect the hose leaving it empty, twist the end of the hose, insert this piece with the end of the hose on it into the post nipple that sticks out 3 inches from the center of the motor. Then turn on the hose. If you do this in the wrong order you are SOL because it is now difficult to depressurize the hose; (Of course, you can unscrew the spring-loaded part from the end of the hose if you don't mind getting wet.) All in all, this whole situation sucks. Yamaha, you won for your fresh water flushing system!
