I have always carefully dosed the chemicals to treat my reef tank. However, due to some issues with green cyanobacteria, I decided to give Chemiclean a try! While a proper flow helps avoid problems with cyanobacteria overtaking the sand bed and live rock, I didn't have time to wait for the couple of wave pumps I ordered. Completed a 48 hour treatment following (carefully) the manufacturer's instructions. Get good treatment results. I did a small siphon and cleaning along the walls of the aquarium with the UV light on and a 20% water change. The skimmer went crazy with the handling, but removed the shell and just left it alone. Crabs, snails, fish and other inhabitants looked normal and everything was fine, but I noticed that some burners are losing their color a bit, personally I don't know if it was processing or something else wrong. Using chemicals like Chemiclean requires a very precise and thoughtful approach. Treatment. I would use this as a last resort while still trying to find non-chemical ways to get rid of cyanobacteria. I believe the product does the job as described, but there is certainly always an undetected flaw, just like any other chemical. Treatment.
