When I first started making kefir I looked at this OXO funnel/filter and nylon strainer sold by Harold Import Co. Based on the reviews and believing that a nylon filter would be more versatile, I bought a set of filters. from Harold Imports and used it for several months. While the filters are truly versatile, the fine mesh of the 3-inch strainer also taxed my patience. I was considering quitting making kefir due to the time and effort involved, but figured I'd give this OXO kit a helping hand before giving up kefir altogether. The large funnel with strainer is a game changer! Gravity now often separates kefir from grains kefir routine has grown from a 20 minute task to a 5 minute (or less) activity. I estimate I save an hour or two every week, not to mention the stress and headaches. The rubber strips are very functional and hold the OXO securely while I fill the funnel and wait for it to drain. The design of the sieve is also excellent. It snaps into place and releases easily, making cleaning quick and easy. So far I haven't had any problems with the unlocked filter. en with vigorous stirring of the contents of the funnel. Whether you're just starting out with kefir or you've been going the hard way for a while (like me), I highly recommend getting this kit and making your life easier. Also, the nylon strainer set is incredibly useful for other tasks, I just wouldn't recommend it for kefir.
