I bought this for my 10 year old son to use for sparring. I was originally going to buy it at a local sporting goods store for around $35, but his trainer urged us not to skimp on something as essential as a quality headgear that would give him proper protection, so here we are. Equipment item with thick lining. It's a one size fits most and is adjustable if needed. We were able to adjust it to fit snugly around his head, but as soon as my son got to the gym he said his trainer tightened it even more for him. I saw my son get punched in the face in the ring. and he's still not hurt. That's enough to give me 5 stars. *** Regarding the "strong smell of leather" that another reviewer complained about. We didn't have this problem.
