I had low expectations as buyers of these units often complain that the melter arrives broken and not heating. I think what people don't realize is that it's just slow and a battery heated tip never gets as hot as a soldering iron plugged into an outlet. But mine melted the wax and did what it promised. I just took a small piece of wax and let it sit on the tip until it was properly melted before pressing it into the damaged floor. I repeated this process several times, mixing different colors before scraping off the excess. All in all, this is an easy method and the end result looks better than a pothole in my ground. When it comes to durability and dirt, I remain skeptical. After all, his wax is so hard it probably won't take much wear and tear, and I suspect it does get a little stuck on dirt. The time will show.
