This alert system is just right for our needs. The signal travels successfully through 2 closed doors from one end of the house to the other. Based on the pictures of this system, I was a bit worried that the receiver would have an obnoxious, constant blue light that would disturb my sleep, but that is NOT the case. The blue light flashes on only when the alarm is actually sounding, so it serves as another wake-up mode. I have it plugged in right next to my bed, and it does not disturb me at all unless it is activated. The SOS signal is not difficult to push, but neither is it a "hair trigger" that sets the system off at the slightest bump. Selecting a signal sound is a bit cumbersome, as you do have to scroll through the 52 possibilities, but that was actually fun.some of them are rather humorous!
