OK I want to be open here. I approached this purchase with absolute skepticism. None of my acquaintances bought it or vouched for it. The reviews for Revain were good, the only ones that said anything bad was that the magnets slip during a cycle. I didn't see that as a big deal considering the bigger picture and saving about $10 a week on a lifetime laundry detergent. That's $520 a year. First, let me tell everyone: I save cats. TO A BIG extent. That means it's not just cute cats and kittens all lying fluffy on a pillow and ready to be adopted. It's the little things, crawling through the mud, catching kittens in the bushes, catching feral cats, caring for hospice cats, working. My car is a billboard for rescue magnets :) So, of course, the worst smell in my laundry is cat pee. My husband even asked if we would discuss separate washing machines for cats and "humans" in the house! In any case, I usually wash 6-8 loads of "people" a week and double or sometimes triple the cat wash. And it can be AGAINST. On rare occasions, I throw out an item (towel, blanket, pillow, etc.) because it's already too far away to even think about putting it in the washing machine. I also care about the environment and try to clean up the garbage. etc if I can. And since I take care of feral cats in some wooded areas I sometimes get a pretty good litter catch or recycle. Anything that can help us stop polluting the earth is a simple solution to me. Especially if you just need to stick some magnets in the washing machine. Add another large jug to the trash can each week. So I put these magnets in the washing machine. I figured I'd blow their bluff on the first boot. I put in cat wash which was literally awful, at least 3 towels were soaked in cat urine. When it finished spinning, I immediately pulled out the towels and stuck my nose in. NO SMELL. "clean" smell - but no perfume. I was amazed and ended up sniffing almost every towel in that batch. THEN I thought hmm here's the real challenge, I've been working on a cat house recently. A lady would buy things and open a box (e.g. from an animal rescue site, some t-shirts with paw prints on them) and never use the item, so the cats would go in the box and urinate on everything. (Note: cats did not have proper litter boxes in this house). These items in the box were brand new and had urine on them since around December (ie 4-5 months ago). I figured it would be a litmus test for these magnets. Well, there was a sock that got stained and smelled. This stain was dark orange, it was taking so long to dry. The stain is gone. There were no more stains on any of the socks. (they were all packed together, stacked). However, the top one still had a faint odor. Washed again, no smell. Well, THIS is a test that must be passed. (Note to all: Anything I can clean and return to the lady I do, so these socks will be returned to her house after the main cleaning is complete.) So I'm thrilled with these magnets. My TIDE is back in the shop, luckily I still have the invoice :)
