I bought these mats primarily because they were described as lightweight (and they really are) and for their aesthetics compared to weather tech. Glove. And because of the material, they didn't smell like rubber mats for a while. I live on a cape so sand is everywhere and will likely get into your car. They are ideal for protecting carpets from sand. In fact, after I've vacuumed the carpets and then put them away to be vacuumed, there's rarely anything left in the carpet that needs vacuuming. Highly recommended.
