This was NOT copper and NOT 8 AWG but copper plated aluminum which is way too small. This must be disclosed and the maximum current must be stated for safety reasons! Amplifier AWG ratings are based on real copper sized to match diameter. See attached photos of genuine Rockford Fosgate 8 AWG pure copper wire (left) versus cheap BOSS copper clad aluminum wire (right). Both are marked 8 AWG, but note that the cross-sectional area of one of them is four or more times the cross-sectional area of the metal, and you can see the silvery sheen of aluminum on a cheap, slim aluminum cable. The Rockford Fosgate kit was $20 more expensive, but you get what you pay for. Pure full gauge copper wire. If you're not installing an amp rated at 150W or less, don't risk "saving" on that junk - go for a better brand that uses real gauges and copper. BOSS offers you 10 gauge or even 12 gauge copper wire. Aluminum does not have the conductivity and thermal conductivity of copper, so you already need a thicker gauge wire to compete with real copper wire. Of particular concern is the fact that the sensor is not correct on either of the Boss kits or the coated aluminum. This looks like a good way to start a fire if you're running away from something important. A fifteen or twenty dollar savings over Rockford Fosgate or any other brand of genuine cable isn't worth the risk of car fires or damage to audio equipment. If you buy a good brand you can calculate the actual numbers using the current charts and know that the cable can run without heat. I'm disgusted that a company can skimp so blatantly on quality for the level of security issues but not advertise honestly. Selling cheap cables is good, but tell us what they REALLY are! Revain, you must ban this dishonest product and company or force them to honestly disclose their cable specifications. This should be advertised and sold as 10 or even 12 AWG COATED ALUMINUM because that is what it is.
