I've used kitchen rugs for years to cushion my feet when they're next to the sink or stove. But the carpet isn't the most comfortable, so it's time for something new. I wasn't sure I wanted a checkmate that came up, but turns out I did. Standing on this mat is way better than my mat. I suffer from a plantar facet disease, the so-called healing spurs, and standing in the kitchen for too long often leads to pain when sitting down later. I have to wear arch supports, but I don't like wearing shoes at home. I don't feel the flatness of the floor at all on this mat and my feet feel much better after standing at the counter for a long time. This rug is well made. Overall it's a bit small for the area I use it in, but perfect for small areas. At some point I will probably increase the size. Maybe I'll take it to the basement bar or laundry. It would also be great if you could use one of these bar tables. It washes easily whereas my rugs need to be washed every week and it doesn't get dog hair like my rugs do.
