Speed >300/200 Mbps on Firestick 4K

110% satisfied and more than satisfied with this adapter. Basically, every other Ethernet adapter built to work with the FireStick uses Fast Ethernet, which limits the maximum speed to 100/100 Mbps, even though it's advertised at up to 480 Mbps (the maximum speed for a USB port on all Fire Sticks) and Fire Stick ). 4k models) - which is just plain stupid. However, this adapter has a Gigabit Ethernet port that breaks the 100Mbps hard limit. If you're just streaming Netflix or Prime Video, 100Mbps is fine, but I mostly use my FireStick to play stuff from my Plex server. In this case, speed quickly becomes an issue when you watch REMUX Blu-ray movie rips with size file can be larger. up to 50GB per movie. And while the FireStick's Wi-Fi speeds easily exceed the 100 Mbps limit on most Ethernet adapters, there's too much latency and buffering over Wi-Fi to make viewing such files halfway tolerable. Then I stumbled across this adapter and my prayers were finally answered. As you can see in the screenshot I took with the network speed test app on my FireStick 4k, I get consistent download speeds of 300-350Mbps and upload speeds of 250-280Mbps with this adapter ( I have a gigabit ethernet fios) which is amazing. . Now buffering takes no more than a split second at the very beginning when watching a movie/video, even when watching huge movies on Blu-ray. It worked so well that I ended up buying extra adapters for every FireStick in my house, as well as a few for my parents' FireStick. It's been about 4 months since I bought them with no problems so I'm sure the quality of the product matches the excellent performance. (Note: If you're wondering why the speed doesn't get close to 1000Mbps because the adapter uses a gigabit connector, the reason is that all FireStick models use USB 2.0 ports for power/wired network connections and USB 2.0 has a maximum speed of 480 Mbps, which is usually much lower when it comes to actual usage - you can typically expect speeds of 250-300 Mbps or less for most USB 2.0 devices, 375-400 Mbps at best , if you're lucky.)

Pros
  • Wired network solution for unreliable wireless connections; The Fire Stick 4K Ethernet Adapter eliminates video buffering caused by a weak wireless signal; Connect this wired micro USB Ethernet adapter directly to your router; The Chromecast Ethernet Adapter supports data rates up to 480Mbps with backwards compatibility (nearly 5x Fast Ethernet speeds)
Cons
  • Very Expensive
