Review on Zojirushi NHS-06 3-Cup Rice Cooker (Uncooked) by Matthew Nielsen

UPDATE: With the new one for 5 years As reliable and functional as the original. No changes to my original comments. I usually only make 2-4 cups of rice at a time. I've made up to 7 cups without the "splatters" described by others. If I made 9-10 cups it might be, but you could cover the tear hole with a small cloth. I would recommend buying a larger size if you are concerned. Still very happy! I bought my first Zojirushi rice cooker over 25 years ago while I was working in Japan. The stove has worked flawlessly for more than 25 years up to this year. As I searched for a replacement and looked through many complicated rice cookers, I realized I needed the same rice cooker that I had. It's a model! I wanted him to cook rice properly and on time. I am not a rice connoisseur. The Japanese are elevating it to the level of an art, so perhaps more sophisticated machinery will improve the quality of the food. For me, this rice cooker produces fluffy, perfect rice every time. I usually cook about 3 cups (dry volume) of rice each time. Add water, add rice, turn the lever to boil and in about 20-25 minutes I have great rice for dinner. If that's what you need, then this is exactly what you need. The difference from the original is the non-stick aluminum interior surface, which is a vast improvement over the original bare aluminum. Rice doesn't stick. There are markings on the "pot" showing where to pour the water - it's definitely harder to read with a non-stick coating. It hurts a little, but it's not a deal breaker. The lid is made of glass with a small drainage hole. I read that this hole spits and made a mess. This is NOT my experience at all. In fact, my old lid (light aluminum, no holes) made a bit of a mess at times. It's not like this. I have had this product for 3 months now. This is a simple oven that works perfectly and is exactly the same one I've had for 25 years. Very very happy.
