Review on Chemex Classic Pour Over Glass Coffeemaker Kitchen & Dining for Coffee, Tea & Espresso by Ebony Shaw

Still very good - almost perfect

Updated review - 2 years later We still use the 10 cup Chemex and will stick with it. In the meantime we have tried the Cuisinart Drip (stench sediment) and the Bodum Drip (stains in the carafe) and discarded both. French press made good coffee but was dirty. During this time we accidentally broke the Chemex carafe 3 times (so be careful). The best coffee is still Chemex.******************************************** ************************************************** ****** ** ************ **************************** Chemex 10 cups is very good, almost great . The result is excellent coffee. (I use Costco San Francisco Rainforest Blend organic beans. About $6 a pound. I grind them in a burr grinder.) For instant gratification seekers and those with a little patience, this may not be for you. For me, waiting a few minutes while the water drips is bearable given the result. However, this is not a Zen experience as some have commented. One minus point: the 10-cup carafe is awkward to use when filled with hot coffee. I'm a male and I have big hands and I have to hold the wooden part of the carafe with both hands to pour when it's full and hot. I touch the hot glass with one hand. Despite this shortcoming, I will most likely stay with Chemex because of the great coffee.

Cons
  • Some minor issues
