Not quite what I expected

I use this monitor at work. I have a 2021 16" MacBook Pro (M1 Pro) as my company supplied a laptop and it connects to the monitor's USB-C via a CalDigit TS3 dock using Displayport 1.4 and USB-C. As a single GIANT monitor, it's AWESOME! But when I use the split picture feature (which is what I bought it for), it's missing. Why? Because: I have 3 monitors for my MAC), the inputs on the monitor are displayed correctly vertically but stretched horizontally. This effectively renders both monitors unusable. I can change the aspect ratio on the monitor or the screen resolution settings on the MAC and get a usable image, but they come up small with huge black bars at the top and bottom. To use the full screen area of the monitor, it always expands no matter what I'm doing. So to get a comfortable screen I can have 1 HUGE monitor and my MBP's built in display next to the side. ---- OVERKILL, but still cool I think. At least I have 1 HUGE monitor. Out-of-band) Windows 10 laptop connected to monitor via USB-C: HDMI to HDMI 1 on monitor and another HDMI: HDMI to IN-2 on monitor. And they work well in tile mode (4:4 display on the monitor. That gives me 3 full monitors for my MAC and 3 full monitors for my Windows PC. Bottom line, these are all relatively small screens. Visually, about the same size as a 14" monitor. --- This is perfectly acceptable if I need to work on a MAC computer and an OOBM computer at the same time (key) and need to use separate keyboards for the systems. The real problem I have with this monitor is how it manages the inputs. They are active all the time. This means that the input is active and enabled even when not in use. Therefore, any computer or device connected to the input will still see it as an active display, even if the monitor is not showing the input signal. A third monitor is connected. If like me you use the split monitor feature and swap 2 monitors for MAC and 2 for PC and again use only for MAC, the secondary monitor that can be used is 4:4 mode. It stays active on the MAC, giving you a hidden monitor that may not be visible but still usable (depending on your computer). So if you opened something on that monitor in 4:4 mode, it will no longer be visible when you switch back to 1:1 mode on the monitor. to what is selected on the monitor screen; that would be a HUGE advantage. The connected MAC or PC automatically adjusts the number of available screens in its operating system depending on which mode is selected on the monitor. And my final complaint (HUGE) is when you change the view mode on the monitor your display resets. MAC settings. When using this monitor as a standalone monitor I adjust the resolution settings in the MAC to "Scaling" which makes the resolution much higher allowing for better use of a 43 inch monitor. When I use it "Standard" the text and icons are so big that the astronauts on the ISS could read the screen just by tilting it up. It's not just the "default" display settings, it's the default order of the monitors display settings. This means that every time I switch between 1:1 view and 4:4 view, I have to reset the MAC display settings accordingly. This is a hassle and a BACK PAIN! Maybe LG will fix that in the future Version Turn off inputs on monitor if inputs are not actively displayed 2. Not saving display settings is not a problem for the monitor, so I can't complain about that. It's a problem when the MAC is smart enough to speak but not smart enough to form a complete sentence. It just sucks and it would be nice to pay a little more attention to memory settings.3. The monitor has a "buzzer" function that emits high-pitched tones over OSD menu items. Once it's on, you can't turn it off again. CRAZY! At least I haven't figured out how to turn it off yet. This option is not available in the OSD menu. All in all, all I had to do was buy a 50-inch 4-input UHD TV. I would be better off taking my needs into account. And I would get a much brighter and sharper display than that crowded LCD. I don't play games so can't comment on how good it is for gaming, but overall I'm not too happy with my purchase.
