Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ uni USB C Hub with Ethernet Adapter, 4K HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, and 3 USB 3.0 Ports for MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, XPS by Joe Bailey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Highly recommended; Surprisingly Fast Ethernet

I've used several of these USB-C hubs. Some were great (like Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand 6-in-1), others were bad (unbranded USB hub). I can only recommend this from the university. Here's why:* The USB-C connectors are a perfect match. I've had some issues with other brands that are too loose, requiring the connectors to wiggle to ensure a stable connection. * The case is made of metal. I've seen some of the cheap brands that used a plastic case showing signs of heat damage. Not only is the metal stronger, it should also help keep the internal electronics cool as the case acts as a heatsink. It is important that they are rated for heat as any of these USB-C hubs will get hot as they do so much. * I have used several products from Uni and they are all very high quality; I think this product will also be reliable. Also, Uni has a history of using products, unlike some no-name brands that make a product for a year or two and then cancel it before getting bad reviews if products fail over time. * The Ethernet port is fast. I was able to download at 798MB/s, which is pretty fast for my connection. I was honestly surprised that I was able to upload at this speed as the Anker hub I'm using can only upload at around 300MB/s*. The cable is braided and thick. This is very important if you are planning to travel with it. The cable's thickness prevents it from twisting (although it remains flexible). Other thoughts: * This adapter does not support power supply. You'll need to use a different adapter if you need power (or just plug the adapter into a different USB-C port). *The Anker adapter I used supports power delivery, but it's also about $10 more expensive, which isn't a negligible difference.
