They do the job but be aware they are EXTREMELY sticky on the side that sticks to the bottom. So much so that I only laid the rug on the wooden floor for a minute and had to pull it up to adjust - the strip stuck to the floor and detached from the rug! I see how he can rip the carpet. They are good if you do NOT intend to move the rug once it falls. If you need to regularly lift the rug to clean etc. I would recommend the following: 1. Attach the strips but do not remove the backing which is sticking to the floor2. Step on the strips (the backing should be on the side of the rug) to make sure they lay snugly on the rug3. remove the backing and something to remove the stickiness - I patted everything with my hands. You can use an old rag, sock, or t-shirt. anything that can remove stickiness.4. Then put the carpet where you want. Alternatively, just a non-slip rug pad or rubber items that you put in drawers to keep things in place. Hope that helps!
