What you need to know before you buy!

I bought this product thinking it was an upgrade from the G8, basically the G8 with radar capabilities. I was wrong! Although it has GPS and a scorecard, it doesn't track detailed statistics. If you want to use a device to determine your club's distances, this is not the case. You can measure the shot, but that won't tie it to the racquet. There are Garmin forums where these features have been requested, but we don't know if they will be implemented. However, this device is excellent for a range with radar capabilities. If I had known that this is the main feature of this device, I would have gone for the G8 and waited for a more detailed startup monitor. Being on the range allows me to focus on practicing my shots and aiming for range and consistency. than just hitting a few balls there. The virtual round figure forces me to use different clubs and try to improve distance accuracy. For this purpose the device is perfect! Another feature that's sorely missing is radar data tracking. It would be nice if I let him know I'm meeting my driver and he saves the data for that club so I can better assess what I did on the range. This feature should apply to both GPS and radar, but it isn't. I haven't had overheating issues like others and have been away for some very hot days. I don't sit on it in direct sunlight so this might help. After all, I'll probably keep the device when I install the network in my backyard. I'm going to use GPS on the course and a simple scorecard as even in the scorecard it's very simple and doesn't allow you to add penalties, only points and kicks.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
