Screws are too short!

I was skeptical about the 2.25" bolt length but didn't see any negative reviews so I ordered. They are 1/4" too short to attach to a 2x6 board (1.5" x 5.5"). It engages no more than half the threads of the nut, and this is insufficient to allow the locking mechanism to even engage in the lock nut Not very secure for weight requirements I will just buy some longer carriage bolts and still use the lock nuts.
