The thing is good! I added it to the end of my little Python 1x4x15 gravel sucker. This gives the hose enough weight to hold it in my five gallon bucket without a clamp. Makes starting the siphon very easy, no mess. The siphon continues to work as long as it is submerged in the bucket; Who cares if it gets wet? They clean the aquarium. You could make it a built-in valve, but why actually? This simply places the weight in the middle of your hose. It's definitely the best fit for imo hose end. The adapter that comes with the kit is easy to change, as I have a small diameter hose I had to change the connection which was pretty easy.
