Holds the weight at the end

The thing is good! I added it to the end of my little Python 1x4x15 gravel sucker. This gives the hose enough weight to hold it in my five gallon bucket without a clamp. Makes starting the siphon very easy, no mess. The siphon continues to work as long as it is submerged in the bucket; Who cares if it gets wet? They clean the aquarium. You could make it a built-in valve, but why actually? This simply places the weight in the middle of your hose. It's definitely the best fit for imo hose endโ€ฆ

Totally useless -- doesn't work

I really don't see how Python can get away with this product unless I'm missing something. I'd say maybe it's because there are people praising this product, but I'm not an idiot (ie I understand the basic laws of physics) and I just couldn't get this thing to work. , I also couldn't figure out how it could even theoretically work given the actual suction power (or lack thereof). I would choose a product with suction already built in that is known to work. Adding it after the fact to a pythonโ€ฆ

Another great Python product

This siphon bulb works so well with so little effort. You just need the bulb to be 2-3 inches below the end of the hose for it to work. It's also very durable, unlike most aquarium lights, and I expect it to last a long time. I had no problems with lamp leaks when I switched from a 1/2" to a 1/4" adapter. I only did this because I already had a 1/4" ID tube. It should be noted that the 1/2" adapter is actually 9/16" so you can use a hair dryer or a very hot hair dryer need to use to install the

Make it possible with a little physics knowledge.

I was disappointed to see all the negative reviews on this item. Getting started is relatively easy. Three tips: 1. The piston should be below the water level in the gravel vacuum. This is necessary for gravity to allow the water to flow. This was difficult for my setup, which consists of two tanks on a stand - the bottom one is just a few inches off the ground. Do your best to remove air from the gravel cleaner. I do this by lowering it parallel to the bottom into the aquarium with the openโ€ฆ

Terrible design, do not recommend at all

I love my big python vacuum but was hoping to find an auto start pump to make water changes even easier. Unfortunately that was NOT a solution. I didn't have suction and double checked by trying to flip the bulb on the line if I originally installed it backwards. Both directions gave the same results. abominable. In addition, the squeeze bulb was loosely connected to the siphon hose and kept falling off. Water ended up leaking, even though the squeeze bulb sucked in the previous way - it wasโ€ฆ

There are devices there

I read bad reviews. I think I'd give it a try and just give it back if it's as bad as some say. I immediately thought it was bullshit, but that decision was made too soon. See, it's not a perfectly designed lamp, but my technique hasn't prevented me from running the siphon with a small python (rated for 10-20 gallons) with maximum ease and with only 1-2 pumps. Take the lightbulb and point the output side up. What I do is put the vacuum end as low as possible so as much water as possible getsโ€ฆ

Siphon Python not ready for prime time

Product bug NOTES:1. This siphon __can't__ be used "in series".2. The product must be connected at the end of the siphon line (which ends in the waste bin). To do this, the owner must have either an assistant (who holds the siphon inlet in the aquarium) or the length of a gorilla-sized arm.3. __He__ provides ample suction in siphon lines over six feet. It's better to use a tried and tested python faucet attachment (which is dangerous for topping up salt water/evaporation in a reef tank or aโ€ฆ
