At first I was concerned that it would be more of a fabric gauze than a traditional gauze for canning and jelly. And yes, it's a different type of gauze, but oooooooooooooo much better than the white gauze you buy at your local store. This is a tighter weave and works great. Not only did this gauze work better, I was able to rinse and reuse the cloth when making beef broth. I'm so glad I bought more. Never go back to white cheesecloth.
